Microneedling or Dermapen, what is it?

Dermapen

The Dermapen4 is one of the latest applications of microneedling. We use the device to bring highly concentrated vitamin cocktails into the skin. In this way your cells get a stimulus, to make new connective tissue fibers and so we can obtain skin improvement!

What is microneedling

Microneedling is a technique in which fine needles injure the skin just enough to cause the release of growth factors. Because blood vessels are punctured, platelets are released, which triggers the skin’s natural recovery process.

In addition, the production of collagen and elastin is accelerated, making the skin stronger, smoother and more even in colour.

How a treatment works

It is a process that requires 6 treatments (every 4 to 6 weeks) to achieve the desired result.

Why multiple treatments? By treating in a repeatively, the Dermapen can give a real boost to the skin. Meanwhile, the beauticians can monitor the skin. And guide you throughout the entire period.

Prior to the first treatment there will be an intake interview. Pictures of the skin will be taken so that the improvements of the skin can be followed up properly.

Combination of needling and peelings

A Dermapen4-treatment can be combined with peelings. There are two type of peelings, from mild to deep. The type of acid and its application determines the depth effect and for which indication it is suitable.

The beauticians determine whether the combination is necessary and determine which peeling should be used based on the desired result.

What can you expect after the treatment

With deeper treatments it is possible that blood points become visible on the skin. The points of blood show that we have worked deep enough into the skin.

Not with every treatment we want to see blood points. Depending on the desired result, the beauticians determine how the treatment goes. The course after a treatment is already followed:

  • up to 24 hours after the treatment: redness, blood dots and slight swelling of the skin
  • 1-2 days after treatment: mild redness, disappearance of blood dots, reduced swelling, slight itching, tight – dry feeling
  • 2-3 days after treatment: reduced redness, disappearance of swelling, reduced itching and slight flaking
  • 3-4 days after treatment: the skin may look tight and dry
  • 4-5 days after the treatment, the skin has recovered and is functioning normally.

In between treatments, take care of your skin with the products recommended by the beauticians. This is to repair and rebuild the skin.

These products are important before, during and after the treatment.

Frequently asked questions about the treatment itself:

How long does a Dermapen treatment take?

A treatment in which the whole face is treated takes +/- 45 minutes. If you only want to have one scar treated, this will of course take less time.

Is the Dermapen treatment painful?

The treatment can be experienced as slightly sensitive, but it is not painful.

What’s the difference between the Dermapen and the microneedling?

Both treatments are the same. But the Dermapen is “The pen” with which the microneedling treatment is performed. The treatment with the Dermapen is the most modern, most popular and safest microneedling treatment.

How many treatments do I need?

A follow-up treatment is possible after 4-6 weeks. Depending on the indication, an average of 6 treatments are required for the desired result. After each treatment there is already improvement of the skin to see.
